'Twas the Night Before Christmas

The LITE FM Players (2006)

First published anonymously in 1823 as A Visit from St. Nicholas, the poem has been attributed to American scholar Clement C. Moore. This simple verse is largely responsible for the conception of Santa Claus from the mid-nineteenth century to today -- including what he looked like, his sleigh, the number and names of his reindeer, as well as the tradition that he brings toys to children.
