WATCH: Eric Clapton Recently Played Two European Shows

February 2, 2018

It's now well known that guitar legend ERIC CLAPTON has declared an end to any kind of large-scale touring. The combination of aging, nagging physical ailments, and the desire not to do any more globetrotting all factored in to his decision to scale things back. However, EC will still make some live appearances, and that's just what he did in January.

The first performance was somewhat of a surprise, with Clapton showing up unexpectedly at the (January 8th) annual benefit concert organized by Manfred Mann singer, Paul Jones. Then, two weeks later on the 24th, Eric played a private event in Paris where he offered up a 16-song set that touched upon many of the different periods of his long and legendary career. (Check the setlist below.)

One big surprise from the Paris show was the performance of "The Core"—the epic guitar workout that first appeared on the 1977 Slowhand album—for the first time since 1978.

Watch some of Clapton's Paris performance below!

Clapton has a mere four appearances on his calendar for 2018: three in England in July and one at a "Greenwich Town Event" in Greenwich, Connecticut at the end of May. Additionally, the long-awaited Clapton documentary, Life in 12 Bars, is set to premiere on the Showtime channel on February 10th.
