Here’s my dad when "9-year-old me" asked for an allowance:

And then he called my mom to tell her about it:

Chores were mandatory back in my day. In fact, our “allowance” was that we were ALLOWED to have a roof over our heads and food in our bellies.

Times have changed because kids are getting paid for those chores! A new study found that the average kid is getting $8 per week in allowance money, and that’s not even including the bonus for doing actual chores!

Here’s a look at how much kids are raking in with extra duties:

7. Washing dishes - $1
6. Taking out the trash - $1
5. Vacuuming - $1.50
4. Laundry - $2
3. Cleaning their room - $2
2. Cleaning the yard - $4
1. Washing the car - $4

Are you giving YOUR kids an allowance?
