Man Sends Adorable Birthday Cards to the Dog He Got With His Ex
By: Joe Hyer
Romantic relationships may end, but the love between a man and his dog will last forever. That's true for one man from Texas whose birthday card to the dog that he got with his ex has gone viral.
Rebecca and Juan "Frankie" Hernandez were high school sweethearts, who got married in their early 20s. Shortly after their 2012 wedding, they added a pitbull-mix puppy (named Apollo) to their family. Apollo was the "best decision of our life," Rebecca tells Huffington Post.
The couple separated in 2015, and Rebecca took Apollo with her when she moved six hours from their home in Houston, TX. But Frankie's love for Apollo remained.
Frankie has sent a card and gift for Apollo's birthday (April 1) in both 2016 and 2017.
Rebecca posted photos of Frankie's special gesture for Apollo on Twitter this week, and the card made us all cry.
“There is honestly not one time where thinking of you has failed to put a smile on my face. I will forever be grateful to you for that. There isn’t a day that I don’t think of you," Frankie told Apollo in the lengthy card.
Frankie even shared a sweet message for his ex, Rebecca.
"As always, continue to take care of yourself and your mom," he wrote. "Continue to be there for her like you were for me."
