Furry Fursday: Meet Sugar

August 11, 2016

Sugar is a six-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix who arrived at the shelter injured after she was found as a stray. It appears that she was hit by a car, which gave her multiple pelvic fractures. Her injuries were severe, but thanks to the donations made to our Second Chance Fund, they were able to give her the necessary medical attention she needed to be nursed back to good health. Today, Sugar is healed and doing so much better. This miracle dog frolics around with doggie friends and enjoys play time with volunteers as she waits to meet her forever family. She is sweet and loving and will bring lots of happiness for years to come.

Second Chance Fund

An important program for the organization is its 'Second Chance Fund Program'. This fund was developed to pay for treatments and services that are above and beyond the standard preventive vaccines and medical care that every animal receives and for services that may not be available through our own clinics. Examples of ways the funds are used include treatment for heartworm and skin issues, X-rays, minor surgeries and even major surgeries. The Second Chance Fund gives supporters a way to share their love of animals in a very special way—by helping to nurse a pet back to health and give him a second chance in life.
